Jeroen wrote <<Voice of Palestine is not an Israeli station but Palestinian. If its signal causes interference, Israel should go to the Palestinian Authority, present proof that the signal does indeed interfere with airport and army transmissions, and ask the PA to shut down the station.>>
Ilana Was done, more then once. After last complaint Voice of Palestine took over galei Tzahal band (sp) in south of Israel. The Israel reacted by bying stronger amplifiers (sp) (or whatever is needed to make the transmission stronger). Ilana continues << And Fact Two: When you last get to hear what Israeli media telling about Palestinians (I mean mainstream - like Haaretz, Ediot, Maariv, radio, TV)?>> Jeroen answers <<We do not get Israeli radio and tv stations where I live. I also do not recall seeing Israeli newspapers anywhere (and if there are, they are probably in Hebrew anyway).>> Ilana Which tells me (again) that you condemn our media even before giving it a try. <SHRUG> Jeroen, there are many Israelis in your country. Try Central station in your city at Friday. You *would* find copies of all mainstream Israeli newspapers - both in English and in Hebrew. Anyway Jerusalem Post is in English. I was in Holland, France, UK, US, Canada and never failed to find them - sometimes only in English. (although the selection was poor in Canada, but, than, may be I came too late) Ilana continues << And Fact Three: How long do you think "Voice of Palestine" would be down? (clue - as long as average pirate radio-station - week at most - so talking about "silencing Palestinian media" is exaggeration).>> Jeroen asks <<Then what do you call destroying two buildings and the equipment of "Voice of Palestine", and refusing to renew press passes for Palestinian journalists? Those actions have the words "silencing the media" all over them.>> Ilana Destroying buildings of Voice of Palestine I call "another stupid act of protest". Refusing to renew press passes to Palestinian journalists? I am giving you a benefit of doubt again <SHRUG> - not *all* Palestinian journalists and not *only* Palestinian journalists - those who organized things so they'll have what to report. Jeroen asked <<What would you think if the rest of the world would decide to deny Israeli journalists their press passes and shut down all the offices of Israeli news agencies abroad? That would make it almost impossible for Israeli journalists to work outside their own country.>> Ilana I can give you a list of 19 countries, at least where Israeli journalists can't enter (clue - check Arab countries over the world). And there are some others where it is not healthy to be recognized as Israeli - journalist or not. Ilana from Israel
