Not all that many, actually. According to our Central Bureau of Statistics, there were 6,294 Israeli's living in The Netherlands on January 1, 2001. Given that this number increases by approx. 200 per year, there should now be approx. 6,500 Israeli's living here. Given a total population of 16.1 million, that means Israeli's make up 0.04 percent of the population of The Netherlands. > Try Central station in your city at Friday. You *would* find copies of > all mainstream Israeli newspapers - both in English and in Hebrew. Most book stores here have one or two copies of several foreign newspapers, but given the sheer number of foreign newspapers, you will not find all mainstream Israeli newspapers. Only one, maybe two. You will not find all mainstream Israeli newspapers (in both Hebrew and English) at Central Station in my city. You probably would in New York City, maybe in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague, but not here. This city is not big enough for it: it has a population of 205,000 -- assuming the Israeli's are spread evenly across the country, that would mean an Israeli population of approx. 80 people. Since most Israeli's will probably be living in the Randstad (roughly the Amsterdam - Rotterdam - The Hague area), there are probably no more than 10-20 Israeli's living in this city.
