I found that the CDs would work on my burner at work, but would not work on my burner at home. The CD burner at work was an HP 8x, and my one at home at the time was only a 4x. Contrary to what the manager claimed, certain CD-Rs simply won't work in certain CD burners.
My personal rule of thumb: never buy bulk CD-R from CompUSA. My co-workers and I have had good experiences with these people: http://www.cd-recordable.com/ >> Also, newer CD Burners often have a much lower failure rate, even with lower quality CD-R's. I use PNY brand CD-R's in bulk with my 12x (audio) 24x (data) Burner and have less than a 1% failure rate. That's *perhaps* 1 lost or defective CD-R in every batch of 100. (I get them at CompUSA, but they're not CompUSA brand CD's.) The reason? They have better buffering systems built in. Software, (both for burning and OS), available system memory and hard disc space have a lot to do with your success rate as well. I used to use 'EZCD creator 5'. I now use 'Nero'. Nero is less feature-heavy, but it gives me clean burns just about every time. Jon [EMAIL PROTECTED]
