I am Chad Cooper AKA Nerd From Hell (H-E-double-toothpicks for the more conservative crowd)
I have help cut the beating heart from a virgin. I have been discriminated against because I am white. I got my first E-mail address in 1994. My first E-mail was to the Foresight Institute. I have seen the decomposed body of a murder victim that was vivisectioned and buried in a shallow grave. I have seen a man cut in half and live. In High School, the Vice Principal told I would be pumpin' gas for a living unless I started going to school. He outlined the pyramid of self-actualization to me and where I stood in it. I corrected his model (he got the order wrong). I quit school soon after that. 15 years later, I now make 4 times the money he does. My grade point average when I started high school was 3.0. When I left, it was .07. I went to 3 different high schools, 3 different junior highs, and 7 different elementary schools. I started college at 17, but never completed. I have an IQ of around 135 (but you would never know it!). I have lived in over 40 different houses, and lived in 9 different states. I have had over 20 different professions (from welder, to shoe salesmen). I have been married for 9 years, and have had two anniversaries already. I have two children, and one more on the way. I was raised Mormon. My great grandfather grew up in a polygmist family. He had to run into a field and hide for a few hours every time the sheriff showed up at the ranch. I used to work for a polygmist. I have over 70 immediate cousins, and I am the oldest at 33 years old. My family has traced our lineage to 14th century English royalty. My wife was adopted, but now speaks with her birth parents online every day. I became free of cigarettes 41 days ago (ask me how!). My Life changed after reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand (at 14), The Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot (at 20), and The Transparent Society (at 30) by David Brin. While I am not religious, I subscribe to a self-described religion called "Criticism". I read almost exclusively Sci-Fi (with the recent exception of the Hobbit and LOTR) and layman guides to physics. I can currently reading a book that discusses the future of the universe, and how it all ends. Very sobering. I used to post a lot, but have lately found that I don't have much to say, that isn't already said. I enjoy the list. I now do work as a computer guy who solves tough problems. Some days I program, some days I do research, some days I fight battles regarding computer architecture. I recently had an canidid e-mail exchange with the president of Freightliner regarding transparency and openess as policy. Two weeks later, he made transparency the second most important corporate value under profitibility. I look at our corporate message, and see my MEME there... the same MEME David Brin (and everyone on the list) 'infected' me with. I live in Portland Oregon, in a quiet neighborhood. My interests are Sci-fi, Privacy vs openness, Nanotechnology dreams, corporate security, and document management. I also like to golf. I can't stand to listen to any music except Psychobilly, Lounge, Disco and New Wave music. I have been 'saved' by The Reverend Horton Heat. I am sure there are other things that define who I am, but naturally, the act of defining these qualities takes away from the nature of who I am. Thanks for reading... Nerd From Hell
