Jim Sharkey As I promised...er...someone, I started reading Kiln People. I'm about 1/4th of the way through, and I have to wonder, when added to his other works that I've read so far (primarily the Uplift books, though I've acquired a passing knowledge of Glory Season through the discussions), if DB doesn't secretly wish he was a mystery writer.
Or is it simply that exploring secrets is just so much a part of science fiction that it just seems that way? Thoughts? Me: The DB said some time ago that went he decided to start writing he was told to make his first novel a murder mystery. Reason being that you have to set up the plot and characters in a solid way. The result was Sundiver, which is ... a murder mystery. Guess, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Brett
