A scientist was working at a research facility in Kenya, and had genetically engineered two dolphins to grow to maturity and stop aging. The dolphins did require, in addition to their regular diet, certain proteins commonly found in the fledglings of some species of sea bird.
One day, as the scientist returned to his facility with a bag contining a Laurus Hartlaubii hatchling and discovered a pair of lions asleep in the doorway of the main building. Realizing that his jeep would provide no protection were the lions to awaken and see him, he decided to risk sneaking past them in to the lab. This was accomplished, but his research was shut down soon after when he was charged with transporting a minor gull across sedate lions for immortal porpoises.
