One of the problems I see is western countries trying to support this underclass. Less so in the US perhaps, but most of Europe, Australia and New Zealand all provide cradle to grave social security, health care etc, funded by the taxpaying minority. As this pool of motivated, intelligent workers dwindles, along with the high income tax they pay, the cost of providing for this growing underclass will be unreachable, but they will still have an expectation of the government providing for them from the womb to the tomb. Even new refugees granted visas here immediately launch on a tour from the Social Security office to the Medicare office to the Housing Commission. In the US, with a different approach to social security, the problem will just take a different form - more of a social impact than an economic impact. Cheers Russell C.
