militant fundamentalists are listening to Arafat anymore.>>

Ilana
Check your data. Phatah is Arafat's military force. The one armed with
Israeli weapons thanx to Oslo accord.

Jeroen asked
<<Karin who?>>

Ilana
Karin (Carin?) A. Ships with weapons that tried to reach Gaza when Zini was
here last time. Israel presented to media proves that it was organized by
Palestinian authorities during "peace talks"

Ilana
<<And that terrorist that Palestinian police released who promptly blew bus
in Vadi Ara.>>

Jeroen asked
<<Why was he released, then? The police must have had a reason for releasing
him.>>

Ilana
So he would be able to continue with his business? It seams like very good
guess to me. Guesses aside - facts are:
Somebody said that he is going to commit terrorist attack.
Israel asked PA to arrest him.
He was arrested in Shem, transferred to Ramallah and released there.
He blew bus.
Seven people are dead.
*I* see it like PA does not even try to prevent terrorist attacks. You are
invited to find other explanation.

<<You know, if there is one thing I find sickening, it is the neverending
hammering on "Israeli girl killed" and "Palestinian child throws grenade".
Why do people like you keep hammering on that, but conveniently never
mention all those Palestinian children killed by Israel?>>

Ilana answered
<<Fine. Pls display cases where Israeli soldiers/police *intentionally*
killed Palestinian children. I have enough cases of the opposite - Dolfi
disco, Sbarro pitza, several bat/bar mitzva parties. (I am ready to believe
that terrorist who shoot 9 month baby at Nethania didn't see her)>>

Jeroen wrote
<<That does not answer the question why the rabidly pro-Israel crowd
conveniently never mentions killed Palestinian children. Are they considered
collateral damage, perhaps?>>

Ilana
When you heard them last? As far as I know out TV and our papers both left
and right *do* mention killed or wounded Palestinian children. And you
didn't answer *my* question.

Jeroen wrote
<< But then, those children (The footage was shown on ABC News last week -
not that the Europeans will even issue a token statement about child
soldiers!) are not members of a regular army, so technically they are not
soldiers.>>

Ilana asked
<< Are you sure they see themselves this way?>>

Jeroen wrote
<<I doubt they see themselves as soldiers in a regular army. They more
likely see themselves as guerrillas fighting the Israeli oppression.>>

Ilana
When you last saw PA TV? *They* add English translations. The exact words
are "soldiers in Army of Islam against Israeli and American oppressors" And
they have uniforms. And they train (sp) with) weapons. No I am not trying to
guess if they see themselves as army or as guerrilla. Why do you think
should I care when they attack people that I know?

Jeroen wrote
<<Then what do you propose the Palestinian Authority should do with their
prisoners? Jail them all for life because they *might* use violence against
Israel once they are released? Or maybe execute them all?>>

Ilana wrote
<< Did you gave a look to Oslo accords? Arafat said that he would jail
them.>>

Jeroen wrote
<<If they are prisoners, then they are in jail -- as agreed in the Oslo
Accord. You did not answer the question of what to do with the prisoners.>>

Ilana
Why should I care? *I* want results. Arafat promised them and failed to
deliver. From *my* point of view Oslo is dead. I don't care what Arafat does
and I believe in doing everything possible to protect myself. And I don't
understand why Army should care if there would be Palestinian casualties and
how many of them. Yhis is Israeli Army. It should protect Israeli citizens
and not their enemies.

Jeroen
<sarcasm>
<<Hm, executing them might be a good idea; it would be completely
justified, since all Palestinians are really terrorists anyway, and life
would become soooo much safer in Israel...
</sarcasm>

Ilana
<< Like they execute those who are suspected in collaboration with Israel?>>

Jeroen
<<It is war. In war, it is not uncommon to execute those who collaborate
with the enemy.>>

Ilana
Mazel Tov! You agree that there is a war. So why should Israel treat it's
enemies different from the way they treat *their* enemies? (And looking into
cases of "those who collaborate with the enemy" can be very interesting at
itself. Why there are so many of them? Why most of them has something that
can be taken after "collaborator" is dead?)
