You certainly aren't obligated. Who said you were? You didn't answer the
question about whether it is better to react to something you don't like
by threatening to run away, or by engaging in a discussion. Also, how is
it that you can be so upset by someone using a simple word to express
themselves, while simultaneously calling someone hateful and racist? Do
you really believe the former is more acceptable than the latter?
