Personally, I would reserve banishment for a lot worse than what either JDG
or Jeroen has written.I think the one instance of  banishment in the history
of Brin-l was calibrated just about right: temporary banishment for someone,
who was probably mentally ill, spamming meaningless obscenities.  But, even
if I thought it a suitable punishment, its a non-starter.  Jeroen can banish
you or me, we cannot banish him.
