The archive is approx. 300 MB uncompressed, 70 MB compressed.

Is the directory structure of the archive a problem? I have a folder for
every year, each of those contain 12 folders (one for each month) which in
turn contain mailboxes for every seperate day of the month.

Also note that a .mbx file is really nothing but a (sometimes very large)
text file containing all the messages in a particular mailbox.

That should not be a problem. My customers are people who use Windows
95/98/NT and manage to produce any hardware and software problem you can
think of (and more). Great peace of mind is a job requirement...   :-)
