Except the application of these rules is, by common consensus, so restricted that except in the most egregious possible case there really isn't a rule that can be reliably applied on its own. A rule is "If you do A then we'll do B." In practice, Brin-L has, "If you do A then we'll all argue about whether or not to do something that may or may not resemble B." :-)
