You must be referring only to head injuries...?  Twenty years ago, when I
was a paramedic, generally speaking, losing a lot of blood was a bad thing.

On the other hand, a serious head injury that bleeds freely is probably  not
building up intracranial pressure, which is a good thing as long as you
don't run out of blood.

Heads have lots of blood vessels to keep our brains at the right
temperature.  That's why superficial head injuries tend to bleed a lot.
