_The Wasp Factory_ is also good. I very much like the extreme nastiness of the book and its humour. At a distance of a few years, though, I prefer _Walking on Glass_ and _The Bridge_ because there's much more to think about in those books. It seems his non-sf output is divided three ways into Weird (_Walking on Glass_, _The Bridge_), Nasty (_The Wasp Factory_, _Complicity_) and Light (_Espedair Street_, _The Crow Road_). I haven't read his other non-sf novels so I don't know which category they fit into. Rich GSV Not Authoritative
