My apologies to "The Fool", I meant to send this reply to the list, and
ended up only sending it to him. One of the downfalls of mime digest
mode... the reply button does not reply to the list. After not seeing my
reply in the digest, I got worried (especially with all the server issues I
have had to deal with recently :-[ including mail issues), but a little
detective work revealed the problem. I'll be a little more careful in the
future about that "To:" field.

Actually, on the gun, I think before a person should be able to posses
firearms, the person should be able to pass a rudimentary gun safety test,
and maybe a test on the laws regarding possesion and use of firearms (that
would be more for the sake of the individual so they don't unwittingly land
themselves in trouble with the law), but anything more would be excessive.

As for parenting, what would be the standard of judgement? Who will write
the test? No, there would not be a fair way to judge that. I am, however,
for limiting the number of children a person can have as long as it is
applied universally. Overpopulation is a serious problem and must be
addressed eventually, though considering that the US is one of the largest
countries in the world, and compared to some other countries, has a
relatively small population, so overpopulation is not really a serious
problem here yet (though hopefully it will be addressed before the problem
does become serious).

As for registering to vote, such a test already exists. It is the
citizenship test. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your
perspective) people who are born citizens are exempt from taking the test.
Forcing people to take a civics test before they can register to vote would
be unfair to the poor and undereducated, and would virtually guarantee to
turn them into a pseudo-slave class in the future.

Only 4 articles in the digest for yesterday? What in the world happened?
Is Mark on vacation?
