I use Tiny Personal Firewall. I read quite a bit before I made a choice. Tiny Personal and ZoneAlarm are the two most highly recommended products. Personal routers are also a good addition. According to http://www.grc.com, Black Ice doesn't really work as advertised. I don't know, but the internet geeks seem to agree on this point. There are also some good ad blockers. I use Proximitron, but there are several others that are supposed to be very good. Another product that I have found useful is Ad-Aware. It checks your system, similar to a virus check, for adware cookies and processes that stealthily send your information out to various systems on the internet.
