How else would they know of our existence? There's only so many ways a signal can be transmitted, and there's no such thing as LeGuin's ansible. Plus, time as a dimension is fallacious, as the Falconer and Einstein have *proved*. I think I have very good reasons to think that time flows only in one direction, that aliens would have no reason to disguise themselves or control our behavior. Some people are just stupid and dumb. Leave 'em alone, figure that some of their kids will figure stuff out, and take away their one bullet when they make the inevitable boo-boos. Like burning down forests. Stuff just grows back, what's up with that?
