We covered all of this in my high school economics class. Maybe not in
great detail, but we at least got a basic overview of what each thing is and
generally how it works. Unfortunately many kids go to schools where
economics is not even offered. I went to a magnet high school in Kansas
City, KS, and it was the only school in the district that offered economics
-- and the school felt it was important enough that it was a required class
for all students.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that I think at least a basic economics
class is a necessity for every student in a country with a capitalist
economy.
