I think that <5% of the folks in my former church were literalists/creationists; none of my current church-going friends are literalists. The Lutheran (ELCA) Church acknowledges that the Jews are "Chosen" and therefore not to be prosetelyzed (sp?); recently I think the Catholic Church also quit trying to convert Jews, for the same reason. Western theological thought has moved (albeit too slowly for some) toward tolerance in the past 200 years, and will continue to become more ecumenical in the future (else it will stagnate and die). All of my religious friends have friends who are Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and/or Buddhist. (And throw in a few Wiccans for good measure, as well as neo-Druids.) None of them try to impose their views on each other (although we do have some fun discussions, especially after a glass or three of wine...).
