waiting for the thread to reach a point where I thought I had something

I can't seem to find the original post where Kevin commented on _The
Postman_, but going by memory, I didn't reply to it because my comments
would have been along the lines of a "Me, too!" message:
(1) As Hollywood adaptations of SF books go, it was more or less average.
(2) I agree that after _Waterworld_, no one was going to look favorably on
*any* SF movie produced by/directed by/starring Kevin Costner.
Personally, I looked forward to the movie coming out because it was an
adaptation of the Brin book�, though I had my doubts because of (2).
