I'm sorry I didn't reply more promptly if it would have helped, but I was waiting for the thread to reach a point where I thought I had something useful to contribute . . . I can't seem to find the original post where Kevin commented on _The Postman_, but going by memory, I didn't reply to it because my comments would have been along the lines of a "Me, too!" message: (1) As Hollywood adaptations of SF books go, it was more or less average. (2) I agree that after _Waterworld_, no one was going to look favorably on *any* SF movie produced by/directed by/starring Kevin Costner. Personally, I looked forward to the movie coming out because it was an adaptation of the Brin book, though I had my doubts because of (2). _____ You may decide for yourself whether my opinion on Brin books is worth anything or not from the fact that my favorite book set in the Uplift universe is still _Sundiver_. Anyone else want to add their opinions? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- - Have you seen the movie version of Wing Commander? That movie sort of sets the standards for how lousy you can make an interpretation of a game or novel. If you haven't seen it - don't, its a complete waste of time. Malmkvist
