It is my opinion, that this award was intended to enrage Americans. without going into specific detail about each case, the reasons for the 'unreasonableness" of the suits is lost. There are a number of factors that lead juries and judges to make such ridiculous judgements. The first and foremost is a serious mistake by the defendant, either by the lawyer or otherwise. I suspect that in many of these cases, the judge was left with no alternative but to side with the plantiff. There is also the ability to appeal that is not taken into consideration. How could not each of these judgements not be appealed? I refuse to believe that we as so stupid as this award points us out to be.
The award IMHO, smells of pandering to those people that think everything about the world is wrong, broken or unjust. This award really enraged me. After considering this, I realized that it was written to do so. I am sure there are facts being withheld that would reveal some rational factor that lead to these judgements. Nerd From Hell
