<snip post with great info> > > Reggie Bautista Boxes! After moving back to my mom's for a very little bit, I've moved 5 times in 10 years. I own a house and still haven't fully unpacked. On the last move my friends wife found a garbage bag full of purses and women shoes (my mother's, honest), it's still in the basement. I don't think I'm a packrat, just very lazy.
That CSound book (sounds) wonderful. I know my brother and sister in law will love it, thanks for the info. Just to throw this out, does anyone have experience with keyboards? My brother needs to replace his KORG but doesn't know the state of the art anymore. Good luck on finding Banks books. Excession is in print over here, but most of the titles are caught in the US/UK publishing limbo. If you like to borrow some, I think I know someone who can hook you up. ;-) I want to ask a semi-serious question about work and happiness. In my world I never want to equate the two. Now I love my job, but it isn't me. I found a place that only asks me to be there 40 hours a week, lunch included. Not 45 hours (my last job), not 54 hours (the job was only four ten hour days, but there was the half hour lunch, you couldn't leave, and the 'suggestion' that you work two more days of 6 hours each). All the employment helpers at college or high school said the same thing: find what you love and that's your job. When I was 18 I loved: beer, sex, music and bike riding. The only people I know who combine those activities are Phil Lesh(is this the bass player or the guiarist for the Dead? I mean the guitarist) and the guitarist for the Wallflowers. I've told my neice and newphew: UNLESS you find something you truly love, get a job that pays well and has short hours. At parties I run into those swarmy people: "So what do you do?" "Whatever they ask." "No, where do you work?" "At my desk." "No, who do you work for?" "Whoever pays the most." Not saying Reggie that your self examination is wrong, but I believe happiness comes from within*. I just don't hear many retirees or people close to that saying "You know I wish I would have been a welder instead of a pipe fitter. They have better coffee." They just want OUT or are glad to be out. Yes you have to move ahead somewhat, you don't want the company to realize they can replace you with a 22 year old college grad at half you salaery. Sorry, I'm tired. Kevin T. *That's why you feel better after you throw up
