I have sailed a little bit (not as much as I would like) and love it when I get the chance. I think the great thing is that it is just engrossing enough to keep your mind occupied with real but solvable problems. One of my partners is a major sailor. Former Commidore of the American Yatch Club. He has had me on his boat a few times for evening races. Very cool. My 18 year old son loves to sail. For two summers he went on something called "Sail Caribean". 6 boys 6 girls a superviser (all of 22 years old) sailing around the Caribean for two or three weeks. Racing  55 foot boats, goofing off. Boy do I wish I were my own kid.

What are you sailing?

Me:
A Mercury - I think it's a 19-footer.  Pretty much your basic beginner's centerboard dinghy.  Manuevers pretty well and is fairly stable, but it has problems tacking in low winds, which can be an issue for beginners.  It's still a great boat to learn on.
