_The Wasp Factory_ is a hoot! I have mostly read Banks in order of first
publication as a paperback with the exception of _Canal Dreams_ which I
completely skipped, _Inversions_ and _A Song of Stone_ which are on the
shelf waiting to be read, and _Excession_, _Whit_ and _Use of Weapons_ which
I got in hardback. Ooh, and _Excession_ is autographed too, I notice.

I really like _The Bridge_, _The Player of Games_, _Espedair Street_ and
_Complicity_. 

_Against a Dark Background_, _Whit_,  _The Business, and _Walking on Glass_
are the ones I found weakest of those I have read.[1]

I think his SF is very good, but his non SF is perhaps slightly better.

[1] Which would be everything except as noted above, and also not _The State
of the Art_
