_The Wasp Factory_ is a hoot! I have mostly read Banks in order of first publication as a paperback with the exception of _Canal Dreams_ which I completely skipped, _Inversions_ and _A Song of Stone_ which are on the shelf waiting to be read, and _Excession_, _Whit_ and _Use of Weapons_ which I got in hardback. Ooh, and _Excession_ is autographed too, I notice. I really like _The Bridge_, _The Player of Games_, _Espedair Street_ and _Complicity_. _Against a Dark Background_, _Whit_, _The Business, and _Walking on Glass_ are the ones I found weakest of those I have read.[1] I think his SF is very good, but his non SF is perhaps slightly better. [1] Which would be everything except as noted above, and also not _The State of the Art_ -- William T Goodall [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.wtgab.demon.co.uk
