I think you are missing the point of the article and the point I was making.

The article was pointing at a disparity. It exists.

I was saying that this applies to adults and not kids and that the law was
originally intended to help adults and not kids.

I'm not proposing a solution. But there are many adults who work for minimum
wage and I can look at that table and see how difficult it must be for them.

If one listens to Dr. Brin, and agrees with his assertions of a diamond
shaped society, then one must agree that strengthening our society in order
to preserve that diamond shape is a value worth working toward.
