Isn't this happening? I mean selling one kidney, selling blood, or selling ones labour or even ones body or a child to escape poverty is AFAIK still common practice. And slave labour is still common enough to not be discounted from reality. So,... so much for protecting people from themselves. We should put more effort in protecting people from poverty, before climbing onto our noble horses (wink at Debbi) and start protecting them from themselves by taking away their livelyhood, without offering any alternatives.
