Well, for starters, you picked the Bengals. Did you have any clear
evidence that the head coach had had a successful proctocraniectomy?
That was the necessary condition for *my* picking the Bengals at any
time in the future. :) (See my post on 9/24 on the subject.)
Now, to be fair, I only saw the one Bengals game, on 9/22, and haven't
gone over the play-by-play of all their other games, but they didn't
have coherent leadership at that game, and I didn't see how they were
going to improve to the point of actually winning, even against the
Steelers (whose one game I had seen wasn't great for them, but they put
up a much more respectable fight against the Raiders in Week 2 than the
Bengals put up against the Falcons in Week 3).
I didn't have time to comment last week, but if I had, I'd have said
something about that Bengals pick.
BTW, you probably don't have the time on your hands, but going over
play-by-plays to get a better feel for the games you didn't actually see
might help you some.
I intend to go over all the play-by-plays of all the Bengal games this
regular season before your next picks come out, and of their opponent
next week, and if you pick the Bengals, I'll give you all sorts of very
specific grief over that one. :)
And if the Bengals were playing this week, well, that would be the
answer to your question "WHY?" :) Maybe one of these weeks I'll have
some sort of insightful analysis before Sunday as to why one of your
picks is wrong, and we'll see who wins *that* matchup. (If you don't
want me to do that for next week, don't pick the Bengals, OK?)
Julia
p.s. play-by-play can be got at nfl.com; go to
http://www.nfl.com/schedules , click on the game you want the
play-by-play for, and near the top of the page there will be a link
"Full Play-by-Play" and that'll get you to the play-by-play for that
game. Just 88 so far, with another 14 to be added this weekend, so only
a little over 100 to go over for next week! ;)
