That was a particularly good episode of Justice League last night. About 70
minutes long and a good story throughout.
But I too was surprised at the suggestion of death during the battle scenes.
But then the German soldiers in those particular scenes were engaged in
slaughter or were on their way to invade America. OTOH there were scenes
where Nazi Soldiers/workers were saved from death in a Blackhawk bombing
raid and the heroes were glad to have done so. I think they drew a moral
distinction and not a totally inappropriate one.

Justice League is geared to a bit of an older crowd than Super Friends.
Super friends is an inferior product when compared to the earlier (in the
60s) Justice League Of America cartoon that sprung from the Superman/Batman
hour.

Super Friends was a dumbed down version of superhero stories written by
people whose contempt for the sophisticated minds of children showed through
in every episode. Kids really do enjoy a good story and do not require silli
ness added in or comic relief as some adults presume. I think that treating
children as intelligent gives them confidence and finding their own way
through moral questions with a little help on occasion only reinforces a
childs better qualities.

I like the old silly cartoons too and think that they are important. A broad
development of humor is a good thing.
