<TV executive mode> Obviously, kids can never relate to adult superheroes, so we have to add comic-relief teenagers as sidekicks! </TV executive mode> In earlier Superfriends episodes, they added a cheesy teen boy, girl, and talking dog to the cast of superheroes. I guess they were trying to capitalize on the popularity of Scooby Doo and the various cloned shows Hanna Barbera put out in those days. Later, they at least made the teenage sidekicks superheroes, with the Wonder Twins.
