I'd rather they outlaw smoking in public spaces than advertising.  I think
people have a right to consume what they like in the privacy of their homes
wether it be tobacco, alcohol or other substances.  

In my opinion, for advertising to be unacceptable, it has to 
- lie, or imply falsehoods
- be discriminatory
- be targeted at children

A product is legal or it is not.  If it is legal, then it should be 
advertisable.  Tobacco ads that do not downplay health risks or target
kids are completely acceptable in my book.

Of course, banning smoking in public spaces can be taken too far.  I 
remember a trip to LA and a blues bar where people snuck outside to light 
up.  A blues bar where you can see the stage from the back of the bar 
isn't a real blues bar!
