My dad is currently undergoing cancer > therapy.> Rich, who has only ever formally studied physics and computer science. I'll still try and sell you a book sometime. Rather than recommending a book, I think every hospital should have a complete video collection of the Marx Brothers available. William Taylor ---------------------- Not to mention Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine.....
You may not have been speaking of comedy in general, but there is some comedian* who is on a crusade to deliver funny books, CDs, movies and video games to hospitals. Kids first, then cancer wards, then regular hospitals.
I heard this three months ago, but may not get facts exactly right. He had cancer and was doing chemo. Even though he was tired and all the rest, he noticed others who were a lot worse than him. So he started chatting up the waiting room, telling jokes. (Do patients take their treatments together?) Other patients didn't believe he was a patient himself, they thought the hospital had hired him. Soon he was going in on days when he wasn't being treated.
Anyway he beat cancer and felt it's such a small thing to donate some CDs and cheap players. Now a year later he's getting the usual stories of how laugher saved someone. He has to get the comedy club where he performs around the country have a van waiting because he gets so much donated stuff before, during, and after his shows. He does his act, loads the van, then drives to a hospital to pass it out.
Kevin T.
*He's not real famous, and doesn't want this to be his legacy, but feels it's massively important. Can't think of his name now.
