Ahh. The figures there are old and somewhat general. The guys there know it needs a work-over. > > And let me restate - all the "home" deals for dial-up access in the > > UK kick you off every 2 hours, and they kick you off the *ISP > > entirely* if in any 24 hour rolling period you're connected for more > > than 12 hours. BT charges these at local call rates " I mean free-dial ISP's. AND Demon charge you for the SDU which is so poor it's unfunny. For free-dial, you're looking at 45 per month with Demon. While admitedly they give you cheaper phone calls, it's still THREE times as expensive as a standard free-dial ISP and considerably more expensive than ADSL! > > "Unlike an increasing number of ISPs, Demon does not cut your > connection off after an hour or two online so theres no need to lose > your position in any game! Yes there are some nice deals out there...but most of them have 12, 24 or even 36-month minimum contracts! No good for me, given I move arround so much (as a student). It's why I'm with Eclipse who have a 1 month minimum. (sure, it's 27 per month rather than the 24 of Pipex, but it's cheaper than paying for a year when I need 8 months!)
