I don't think that's true. The bombing raid on Libya was relatively
short range compared with the bombing of Port Stanley by a Vulcan
bomber, which flew for 8000 miles non-stop and was refuelled six times
in-flight. If I recall correctly, the attack on Libya held the record
for longest range raid using tactical rather than strategic bombers.

(Two raids on Port Stanley constituted the only combat use of Britain's
Vulcan bombers in their three decades of service. They're beautiful
aircraft - I was lucky enough to see one flying at an airshow before it
was finally grounded.)
