I think that is a thoughtful article, which covers some of the same ground
that I covered in an earlier post.  As it stands, Gulf War II will require
sacrifices of few Americans.  My family will not be called upon to make any
sacrifices.  Friends of mine may have to make a very significant sacrifice,
though, and my thoughts and prayers are with them.

The war itself will not really provide a long term solution to the problem
posed by Iraq.  It will, however, allow us to be in a position to work for
a true solution.  Doing so will require sacrifices of all Americans.  I
hope, after a military victory, that Bush will ask Americans to sacrifice
as a nation to build a better world.  That will require significant
expenditures in nation-building.  It should be funded, in part at least, by
a repeal of the tax cuts.
