As it stands, Gulf War II will require sacrifices of few Americans. My family will not be called upon to make any sacrifices. Friends of mine may have to make a very significant sacrifice, though, and my thoughts and prayers are with them. The war itself will not really provide a long term solution to the problem posed by Iraq. It will, however, allow us to be in a position to work for a true solution. Doing so will require sacrifices of all Americans. I hope, after a military victory, that Bush will ask Americans to sacrifice as a nation to build a better world. That will require significant expenditures in nation-building. It should be funded, in part at least, by a repeal of the tax cuts.
