Well now wait, you are comparing two different things. Unless you got it from a different source, I'd bet that those numbers represent only people who graduate in four years or less. And comparing that to the drop-out rate is very much apples and oranges.----- Original Message ----- From: "Dan Minette" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Killer Bs Discussion" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, February 19, 2003 10:12 PM Subject: Re: bush and Title IX> > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Kevin Tarr" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "Killer Bs Discussion" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Wednesday, February 19, 2003 9:33 PM > Subject: Re: bush and Title IX > > > And I don't agree with your view of the lies. It is ~27%. So, the overall graduation rate is about 73%. Dan M.
In fact, I just found a site you should be gaga over: <joking>
http://www.ncaa.org/grad_rates/2002/d1/aggregate/d1.html
Division I
FRESHMAN-COHORT
GRADUATION RATES All Students Student-Athletes #
1995-96 Graduation Rate 58% 60%
Four-Class Average 57% 59%
MEN'S BASKETBALL is 41-43%
FOOTBALL is 43 - 52% (numbers vary by definition.)
In fact, division I-A is the only level where students have a better graduation rate, just barely 1-2%. I'd wager that if they can gently add five and six year rates, the SA rate would be even better. (I'm saying gently because there will be a point where non-tradition students, like me, will be reflected in the graduation rates. I only went full time for three years, while a SA would be full time for five or six years at 12 credit hours a semester. Should they be discounted if they are trying their best?)
Don't know where you got the 34%, unless your source just picked the worst number, for Division I-A. I'll admit that this is only a one year slice, but in this case improvement should be noted, not watered down by looking at the last twenty years.
