They haven't exactly stopped since Perry was sworn in as governor.

I'm personally not comfortable with the death penalty. I'd really, really
like for "life in prison without possibility of parole" to be an option in
Texas.

<scobie voice> Herrrum? </sv> You get to use that as an excuse to get out of JD? Interesting. Not saying it's bad, every state and divisions within the state have different methods of selecting jurors. I loved JD. It was a six day vacation, but I did take the one case I was on seriously. Had a nice argument with the brother over the fact that the cops can declare anything as drug paraphernalia.

I only read this, don't know if it was a study, but in the fifties they would ask a criminal about his crime, and there were a lot that said, 'I didn't do (some action) because I knew it was a capital offense.' It'd be hard to spot, but I'm surprised there isn't some trending that shows 'before this date the rate of capital crimes was this much, then after the DP was abolished it trended upwards'.

So my opinion, which isn't worth the paper it's printed on, is that CP is a good thing. I think prison should be prison. There is no shame in society. But I also see the horrible problems with single parent homes and I know that trend hasn't flatlined yet. Not saying that's where all problems come from, but people hve to learn new ways to live their lives, to look for the hand up instead of the hand out.
