In peace time, they'd be arrested, tried, sent to military prison for a while, and then get a dishonourable discharge. The same would probably happen during a time of war; if we *do* have the possibility of sentencing someone to death during war (but I'm far from sure that we do), a person would probably have to commit high treason to get the death sentence.
