I have to echo John here. I don't play D&D as much as I'd like anymore because of my job, but I am still active in the community, still grabbing freelance work when I can, and still playing when I can. I have a suggestion if you want to get back into it in a social way, at least. Have a monthly couples game. My wife and I join a few other couples once a month to play. We all bring the kids and some food, chat, eat, and then play for a while. It's a good time, and unless your SO *hates* D&D, it's very fun.
