I remember hearing over and over again in the '80s how Japan would overtake the US. If you look at productivity, and not just GDP, the US's advance over the last 10-15 years has been very solid. If you want to think about a crash, look to Europe. The pension problems, especially in Germany, will soon be overwhelming.
