What I want is a cheappre-paid cell phone to give my kids.
My 10 y.o. son has a phone that costs USD5 per month, which gives him unlimited free calls to my mobile, but calls to any other phone (except emergency, which is always free) come off a prepaid amount. It came with a basic Nokia phone, but he uses my cast off phone coz it's small enough that others can't see that he has it on him. (my plan gives me a new phone every 2 years FOC).
It's working great, we get him to call from all sorts of places so we know exactly where he is as he commutes from school in the afternoon. We keep the prepaid amount fairly low so the potential loss is small if it does go missing for any reason.
