Even if the system gave only an approximate location, as Alberto suggested, that would probably be enough to know that s/he is not "working late at the office tonight", and in many cases an approximate location would be enough to let one know that one's cheating spouse was indeed at the home of the particular friend or business acquaintance with whom said cheating spouse was suspected of having the affair . . .

I don't agree with you much Doug, but that's the first thing I thought. Well, actually I first thought: "What the frell are they talking about, my cell phone does not remain in constant contact with the cell towers!" But of course it does, I just forgot. Still, people are relying on cell phones way too much. That doesn't mean I think they are unimportant. If you needed a heart transplant and needed to get to the hospital right now! or some parents or even kids. But 99% of the users don't need to be reachable as much as they think they do.
