See Erik, a key difference between you and me is I
tend to say things like "reasonable people can differ
on this issue" and you don't. Reasonable people can
differ on this issue. I'm not sure you _are_ at this
moment in time - you're not talking like one. But I'm
open to being convinced. Actually being civil would
be a start.

As someone with training in political philosophy, I'm
quite skeptical of the concept of human rights. I
believe in natural rights. I believe in civil rights.
Human rights? Not sure about those. In either case,
again, I don't believe that anyone has the right to
try to kill me. And I believe that I _do_ have the
right to try to protect myself from them.

So, Erik, be a reasonable person. How would you deal
with the problem? I have a solution - military
tribunals. Those are better than the people in
Guantanamo have a right to. They are better than
North Korean prisoners got in the 1950s (note, btw,
that Congress did not declare war then - just so you
know). They are actually very fair, with extensive
safeguards for the accused. They are supported by
legal scholars like Stuart Taylor, and, I believe,
Akhil Ammar (not sure about that thought). They are,
interestingly enough, what the Administration has
proposed. But that appears to not be good enough for
you. _So suggest something_. A trial would involve
compromising our intelligence sources and surely would
lead to the deaths of many people bravely trying to
protect the United States. Perhaps that doesn't mean
anything to you - I'm not sure. What would you do
about it?
