No, 4000 years of endless war in the Middle East has not taught us that violence leads only to more violence (whatever the hell that means). Really, that kind of rhetoric impresses college girls you're trying to bed, but the rest of us aren't looking for an excuse to have sex with you, so we're less impressed. Here's what we've really learned: People who won't give up violence as a way of life need to be dealt with violently. Enough patience, enough forbearance, enough trying to convince those idiots to quit slashing the foreheads of their four year olds. Blowing Yassin out of his wheelchair will do much more to end violence than all the mewling and whining about can't we all just get along. 4000 years of appeasing violent idiots may teach us to stop appeasing violent idiots and kill them. The truth is that sufficient violence ends violence. We are the alpha dog/male/culture here, and we've been nice about this long enough. 9/11 was the last straw, and they can go to Outward Bound or a locked rehab facility, but they are no longer allowed to scream and bitch and smear feces on the walls without huge consequences. You're going to have all your treacly good intentions and disown all responsibility for the disaster that happens because you're too pussified to do what needs to be done. You're ensuring the end of the world as they know it by indulging them. There are basically two ideas in play here: If we act nicer, Osama and the billion asshole march behind him will give us a big hug. But mark my words, if the Muslims don't get a clue soon, and they kill more than 5000 Americans this year, tens of millions of Muslims will die. That's my objective prediction, not just my wish.
