My point was that the right never shows any objective
evidence to support their contention that general
levels of morality are in decline. And when objective
evidence comes forth, they shrilly try to distract
from it.

Like the fact that Bill Vlinton put 100,000 extra
police on the streets and helped retrain 200,000 more
to higher professional standards.

That NYC pioneered new urban policing methods that the
Clinton Administration then promulgated, resulting, a
few years later, in the steepest decline in crime in
US history.

Like the fact that teen pregnancy rates went down.

Like the fact that teen SEX rates went down. (Ignoring
this statistic is the right's greatest and most
incredible hypocrisy.)

Like the fact that abortion rates went down. (No,
ignoring THIS statistic is the right's greatest and
most incredible hypocrisy.)

Like the fact that school bullying and domestic
violence rates went down. AND drug use among teens
and smoking.

No... none of that matters. Just a silly subjective
claim that Sh*t is being said more often on TV and
some gay people want weddings. OH AND BY THE WAY, IN
EVERY ONE OF THOSE CATEGORIES, PROGRESS HAS SLOWED,
STOPPED OR EVEN REVERSED IN THIS ADMINISTRATION.

*As for "evidence" for declining readiness, it pops
out all over if you pay attentions. Our senior
officer corps (which always liked Clinton's calm
administration) is incensed over the yee-haw kickass
good-ol boy unprofessionalism, but mostly it's retired
guys who can speak.

Today though, Lt. Gen James Helmly said that we are
using up the Reserves at frightening rates. Since
most are limited to 24 moths dragged away from their
families and lives and jobs, and since they provide
many of the skilled backup services, he predicts a
critical shortfall in specialists soon.

That's TODAY! If you've been ignoring the practical
ways in which our readiness has plummetted, while
rooting for kickass in Iraq, then you are a yeehaw guy
too.

NOW I AM OUT OF HERE! FOR AT LEAST A WEEK OR TWO.

please, Nick et al. Remove "Brin:" from the subject
header for a while. I'll be back. Till then, please
save up arguments over policy. I know you've got and
will find none. Just spare me the silly-ass
culture-war justifications for supporting a band of
Saudi-licking monsters.
