>Earlier this week former employees of Sproul & >Associates (operating under the name Voters Outreach >of America), a firm hired by the Republican National >Committee to register voters, told a Nevada TV station >that their supervisors systematically tore up >Democratic registrations. <snip> I have no idea how true this all is, but if it is its rather ironic, Sending the troops off to champion democracy in Iraq whilst doing their best to deny it at home. What do people think about compulsory voting? We have to vote here, or we get fined (sometimes) One can of course scribble obscenities on the ballot paper if one wishes but you have to turn up and give it a shot. And they go out of their way to make sure everyone is on the electoral roll. How big a part of American Democracy is the right to totally ignore the whole process? Andrew
