BTW, who's that Republican war-hero & Presidential candidate you're talking about? I don't recall any US President being a war hero.
I believe that there are some who considered George Washington a war hero. And besides, he won the election because his face was on the money and there are all those famous oil paintings of him...
There are probably some who considered Dwight Eisenhower and John Kennedy war heroes.
And while it will probably get me an earful of conservative backlash, there are may be some who consider John Kerry something of a war hero for beaching his swift boat, jumping off, capturing a VC grenade launcher or machine gun or something, and getting back on board alive. At least one of his boatmates said that it was an unprecedented act of bravery.
Not that a single act of bravery a war hero makes.
