Well, George H.W. Bush was the youngest Navy pilot of the Second World War and won the DFC, which counts as pretty heroic. Eisenhower did pretty well as well, most people think. Both Republicans. Truman served with distinction in the First World War, although I can't remember the details of his service in action itself. Going back before that you have a whole list of people in the Civil War, of course (all Republicans), and Andrew Jackson in both the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, and George Washington, the first of them all, "First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen." That was before the Republican Party was even founded. ===== Gautam Mukunda [EMAIL PROTECTED] "Freedom is not free" http://www.mukunda.blogspot.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
