where is "over on Culture"?
if someone has a complaint about how some one else is
posting why not just send that person a private
e-mail? that is what was done to me when i did know
not to top post, or somthing like that.
i still have my own way of doing things, but i respect
that others also have their way (which may be to exert
control). ftitctaj is all i can say about that.
so it goes...

Martin is a decent fellow. I think his remarks reflect
how things are
done differently over on Culture and not any sort of
personal attack.
Over yonder folks are expected to add comment to
posted news items.
Austere postings of the sort that are frequent here
are viewed as bad
netiquette. It is one example of how the net ethic
differs on different lists.
Topical posts intended to spur discussion are just
handled
differently. Here we are saying "is this worthy of
conversation?" and
there they are saying "this is what I want to
discuss"(or alternately
"this is what I think about that").
Let me whisper to you aside. The best headline I've
seen on the
subject so far is:
Kurt Vonnegut Has Come Unstuck In Time
That, dear friends, is simply classic!
