Why?
Are you someplace like Vegas that has water problems?
We have plenty of water here. In fact it rained 43 inches in a 24 hour
period at a rain gage in my area once. We average around 50 inches a
year.
Watering lawns is not always a problem.

you're right, of course. watering lawns is not always a problem. i
own a house in eureka, california where we get too much water.

i'm based in phoenix where it is a problem. i live in santa monica,
which is in the midst of a drought, although we finally got some rain
this weekend.

southern california and arizona are not alone in diverting water for
lawns from places where the water table is being drained.

israel builds golf courses in plain view of palestinians who don't have
enough water to use for bathing.

there are places in the world where water is becoming more and more
critical. human beings can survive a few days with out water, a few
minutes w/o air.

i suppose we could use desalination like the saudis, if we had enough
energy to spare, or capture the water from ice bergs. (maybe it would
even be enough to prevent flooding of the coastlines from global
warming!~)
